First one always takes longer?

Can someone shed some light on why it seems on my system that when I burn my first copy of a DVD it takes approx 20 minutes, then the subsequent burns fly out at around 6 minutes.
I actually have 2 DVD writers in my system a Lite on and a Pioneer.
Both drives behave the same way.
Is there something DVDA does on its first burn pass?

Does that 20 minutes include waiting for DVDA to prepare the project, are you only counting the burn portion?

NO, I always do a prepare to specified folder prior to burning.
Once the prepare is finished, I select burn from previously prepared folder.
Each time I do this the first time takes the longest.
Even when I shut down and come back to this days later and want to burn some more (using the burn from previouly prepared folder)the first one will always take significantly longer?
Not a real big problem, but I find it strange....

That definitely should not be happening.
