First Play problem

Hope you can help: I'm having problems with the image size/quality of my first play media. Regardless of the file, the image aspect ratio is altered when played in DVDA "first play." There are also some image problems (fielding/lines in the picture). When the exact same file is put in a regular menu, these problems are not there and the image size/quality is fine.

Is there a setting regarding first play files that I am missing to avoid this?

How about clueing us in on where the file came from - what format it is, etc.

If it was rendered from Vegas, did you use one of the DVDA templates, or something else. What are the project properties that you have selected for both the Vegas project and DVDA?

I'm working with bdale on this project and can answer a few questions.
The files we're using for the DVD menus were created in Boris Red, rendered as uncompressed Quicktimes with Lower First.
We take the vid that should be seen as the "menu loop" and place it in the main menu area. No problem. Put un the vid that is to be used as a transition (detailed on this forum earlier this week, I think) and that works swell. Put the vid to be used as the First Play and all of a sudden, that vid gets squeezed vertically. Looks to me like it's being placed in at an aspect ration of 1.0 Square, rather than 0.909. But that's me assuming. All Quicktimes were rendered off the same Boris timeline as segments so they can fit seemlessly together as the DVD's menu. For example, for the First Play, We rendered frames 40-118. For the MenuLoop, we rendered frames 119-175. Then for the Transition, we rendered 176-190.
A further test: we placed the MenuLoop vid into the FirstPlay area and that vid then gets squeezed. So it appeared that it was only First Play that gets altered. The next test was to put all three segments onto a single timeline and render them out to watch and see if anything was wrong with the original files. They all played well and there was no sizing issues. The only problem that exists is when the vid is placed in First Play.
Hope this helps you help us. Thanks very much.

Did one more test: Took the most simple render out of Boris Red. Just a single frame rendered as an uncompressed Quicktime. Put that in the DVD-A's main menu as media for the background. Took that EXACT same Quicktime and tossed it into Introduction Media (what we've been calling "First Play") and it gets squished there. So the Introduction media is re-sized, the main munu is not. This seems to ONLY happen with a render from Boris. When I bring video in as a Vegas AVI, it works swell. So my workaround would be to render in Boris, re-render in Vegas and bring that in. But this should not be the case, right?
