Once you have successfully run Vegas in this way, you can remove other unnecessary VST paths in Preferences -> VST.

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 248 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.

I actually renamed my VST3 folder before starting the program again. Then I did what you said in Preferences.
