fix for video hits

I am in the middle of an edit and have found one of the cameras sucked, we have hits in several of the shots. Horizonal hits around 15 frames long or so. Limited amount of video from the camera ,but still have several shots we need to use. I used a fix in Avid, can't remember what plug in it was, but it filled the hit, kind of a paint brush effect and worked decent. Can't figure out how to "fill" the hits in Vegas.HELP PLEASE!!!!
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

is a 'hit' the same as 'drop out'? I'm not familiar with the term. but if it's drop-out, you could fill the gap with a still frame from the last good frame of video before the gap. there is an icon on the preview window that allows you to save the current frame as a PNG and then drop it onto the timeline and adjust the edges to fill the gap.

thanks for responding,,what I'm calling a "hit" is where there is interference in the video, sort of like snow in the old antenna tv reception days. This happens when a beta camera or i guess any camera has worn or dirty heads. The hits I'm refering to are a very small section of the frames, rest of the picture on the frame is fine.
On a 19" monitor a horizonal hit of about 3 "x 1" occuring over 15 consecutive frames.I'm trying to "fill" the hits.I have cut all but 4 shots from the sucky camera, but can't get by without those shots. Don't know if the client will notice the hits, but I sure do, my producer REALLY does. I feel sure there is a fix,but I can't figure it out.
Thanks

risce1, you can try downloading Sonic Foundry's Viscosity. This is a rotoscoping program that lets you "paint" on each frame of a video. It has all the standard photo editing tools. Sadly it's been discontinued so you can't purchase and register it anymore. But you can use it for a 15 day trial period and this may let you get your current job done.
