Flaky DVD Playback

Hi,
I've made a movie in Vegas and burned it to DVD using Mediachance DVD-Lab, and I've noticed that when I play it on TV it sometimes stops for about a second.
I see the maximum variable bitrate in the Vegas MPEG2 encoder is set by default to to 9500. Do you think reducing the bitrate will fix this issue? And how can I accomplish this without causing a great image quality loss?
Thank you

I'm pretty sure you could reduce the maximum to 8000 without any noticeable loss in quality. I can't say if that is what is causing your dropouts. I would suspect it could be bad DVD media or perhaps writing problems as well. You will have to experiment and see.

Some DVD players have an info mode where the current bit rate being received from the DVD is displayed. You could check to see if your movie is pushing the max bit rate. Most of mine stay around 6000.

Good luck,
David
