flash 9 player mp4 vegas export

Excuse this dumb question, but reading through the forums, it sound like adobe is rolling into flash 9 player the ability to play mp4 files.

If this is so, can we use either of the mp4 render as from Vegas and have it play in the new flash 9 player....There is the sony avc mp4 and the main concept avc mp4 listed under render as.

Will these mp4's play back in the Flash 9 player?

Is the Flash 9 player out now or is it in beta?

If Sony can output mp4's and flash will play them now or in the future, maybe we don't need or won't need the On2 or adobe encoders....

Anyway, thanks to all those who help with our continuing education.

There are many codecs out there that use a version of mp4, the keyword being version. Flash player includes a decoder for mp4 video that's been encoded using 1 of very few apps... Search on-line and I think you'll find Adobe, Sorenson, On2, & Riva. There may be more, but those are the ones that come to mind. A quick visit to Adobe's site got this:
File size: 1,137 K
Download Time Estimate: 3 minutes @ 56K modem
Version: 9,0,47,0
Browser: Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, and Opera
