Render it first then try it.

Render it, but, make sure the preview quality (above on screen monitor) is set to the same quality in your preferences. ie. good(full) or best(full)

I have notice a problem when you render with the preview quality set to draft(auto) or something like that.....This may not be your problem

The big vantage from Vegas, is the realtime perview without render. If i have that render, i'll use avid or liquid edition.

better get your liquid or avid cause you gotta render

You should not get green flashes from Vegas previews. Vegas drops frames as needed to keep up with transitions and effects. Sounds like a IRQ conflict on your PCI buss. Try putting your firewire card in the second pci slot ( 2 down from the agp slot). Also check Videoguys.com for info about IRQ issues and tweaking Windows for solid NLE performance. http://www.videoguys.com/Top10tech.htm

The problem is almost certainly the ADS. Check out the ADS Pyro forum at creativecow.com, lots of unhappy customers. When the ADS drops a frame or just drops its bundle period it inserts a green frame, probably you haven't noticed them until you've looked carefully.

BTW, every NLE needs to render transitions and FXs, there's different ways that it's handled, Vegas just drops the frame rate to what your PC can handle. Other systems use hadware to do the calcs but even that reaches a point where it cannot cope and it's back to software to do the work.

Do you have "Recompress frames" checked in your external preferences?
