Flickering on mpeg2 outputs

Hi,

I have had some trouble after rendering out to MPEG2, PAL DVD profile. I have had the latest update via VS demo.

I am editing MJPEG analog video captured using a matrox G400-TV capture card.

Running Win2K plus SP2

The flickering occurs during panning (horiz and vertical) but is not there when there is not much motion !

I suspect it is something to do with field options etc etc. Although I have not changed the MPEG2 settings.

Can the type of input file effect this ?

The only way round this was to render out as PAL DV, import into Premiere and frame serve to a third party MPEG encoder - not very elegant.

I did try re-importing the DV AVI file into VV3 and re-rendering to MPEG2 but I got the same problem.

Any idea's ?

The MJPEG input avi seems OK in VV3, scrubs fine and everything else seems fine.

Thanks

Your project and MPEG render settings should be adjusted to match the source field order. Try using upper field first in the MPEG encoder, as many MJPEG cards capture as upper.

Thanks I understand what you are saying but will this affect the playout on a DVD player ?

Does VV3 support progressive scan or no fields in MPEG2 ?
