For All Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 Platinum Users

Alright, I have been having some issues with my video editing. In the Pan/ Crop section, i noticed that there is no mask feature in Movie Studio at all except for Vegas Pro. Now I am wondering how to cut out an image so i can make it look like it is floating in mid-air. I know how to use all of the cookie cutter and splitscreen crap. But does anyone know how. Oh yeah, if there is no way you can help me, make suggestions to put it in the new updates.

Is it a still image? If so, open it up in any image editor, draw the mask there, then save the image with a transparent background or a solid color background. Import the new version of the image in Vegas. If you used a transparent background then Vegas will honor it (though you may have to go into media properties for the event and tell it what sort of transparency it is). If you use a solid color background then you can add the Chroma Keyer event to key out the background.

hey thanks, that would work, and yes it is a still image, but the only problem is that it takes more time, what i dont get is why they didnt add this feature into VMS Platinum Pro 9

They didn't add it to the Studio version because it's part of the Pro version that costs a lot more.

This is my favorite photo editor. It's quite powerful yet very easy and straightforward to use. It may not have all the fancy painting features of Photoshop but it handles just about any photo editing need with ease.

I did something similar. I got a superman jpg or bmp, pulled it into MS paint, colored the background, pulled the resulting file into VMS and use P/C to fly him through the video. Worked OK though he does tend to look very stiff. I've also done it with a cartoonish prop plane flying through a map. Both are stills.
