For Love & Stacie, my feature film online FREE

MUTTLEY wrote on 8/26/2009, 1:28 AM
Basically I'm tired and broke and gave up on waiting for a big deal and just want people to see it.

There are one or two favors I ask for in the text on the page but basically if ya watch it and like it please post about it elsewhere and help me get some people to see it. Please read the page for all the info, hope you love it and and please let me know what you think. Uncharacteristically I'm open to all feedback under just one condition, please no spoilers, don't ruin the movie for the next person. Oh, and I should toss in a little content warning, not for kids. =)

Hope some of you will give it a look and if inclined, post a little about it somewhere.

Thanks all;

For Love & Stacie

Ray,

I can't believe I watched your flick in the middle of my workday, but I did. Your no spoiler alert forces me not to talk about what I really want to say but otherwise... congratulations on a really well done piece of cinema.

But come on, how can we really comment on this flick with the spoiler ban???

What, no HD version (maybe too big even for a Plus account)? I'd love to load this up on my HD TV but will put it on my list of "must see" video even if I'm forced to sit in my office to watch it! Stand by for praise....
MUTTLEY wrote on 8/26/2009, 10:14 AM

lol, thanks for watching it. I'm sorry bout the spoiler request but since ya saw it you know what I mean. If you (or anyone) has questions that could possibly ruin it for someone feel free to email me, be happy to answer ray@undergroundplanet.com

And no HD version, heck it wasnt even filmed in HD! As I mentioned on the page it was shot on Canon XL2's. Vimeo has a weekly upload limit of 5 gigs but a file limit of 1 gig, I rendered it out as iPod size and it came in at .98 gig. I was actually surprised that I was able to fit it all and it still looks pretty decent and all the text was still readable.

Hi all,

I would recommend you read the last paragraph of Muttley's page he linked to above. This is a very talented man that loves (LOVES) creating video that is skillfully crafted. He is very good at what he does, it is just too bad that he is down on his luck and behind on his bills.

I would dare say that if the right person saw his work, this issue would be a non-issue in the blink of an eye. He is truly talented.

Perhaps we can help a fellow "creative professional" out. Please click here and read the last paragraph at the bottom.

Just figured out how to download for my iPhone. I'll definitely watch this with interest... I love your other work you've done and shown us on this forum.

It's amazing to me to watch various processes unfold as to how some films make it and some don't. I've been working on a film for the past two years, about to complete it, and I'm looking into very unique ways to fund it. Tricky business, though.

So..... what does Stacie think? Is she back?

It's easier to sell a movie before it's made than after.

Bob, that's a "keeper".

Anticipation, concept and conception is the "thing". The video almost makes itself. Sounds like another human exploit that takes up much of time - when younger!

jrazz,
Thanks for pointing out that last paragraph. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a film that much.

Many talented people fall short in one area and that is marketing

You might need to rename the movie and re design the look and feel of the poster to a more conventional movie look
Your ads on your site don’t look like run of the mill movie ads
Have you made a slick 30sec or 60sec trailer for your movie? MARKET THAT ! people are very busy so you need to get to the point quickly and effectively most folks wont download the movie because it takes time but they will look at a 60 sec promo

A talented guy like you shouldn’t be battling. Have you done some research on movie marketing?
You will most likely find that you will be talented in this area as well if you understand the processes

In all honesty most people will ask ….who the f### is Stacy! That’s the way it is unfortunately

Don’t give up on your work …you obviously have a passion for the movie and the story line and project this into your ads
At the moment they look bland and boring as is the title….use your creative ability..which you have lots of in this area

Also market it to the right people there must be many channels looking for content THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF CONTENT EVERYWHERE!!!

It could be your presentation ,,ie posters etc don’t show passion or create interest

started watching on your site, but the bloody play / pause button remains visible all the time - dead centre. very disturbing.

this is in ff3.5.2 on win7 64 (but browsing in 32).

maybe add a direct link to youtube as well?

leslie

DON'T PANIC - closed ff, opened site again, no problem. ah, technology.....

Strangely compelling. I am so glad I watched the whole movie. Definately something others should check out and better than some of the stuff I see on TV these days.

Way to go.

Thanks man, totally appreciate you giving it a look and posting. It's been a really cool thing for me, the movie has been seen over 1000x since it went up a week ago, not exactly a world record by any standard and pretty far from being able to call it "viral" but it seems that some have been posting the link around which was my biggest hope for it, just a wish for it to find an audience. It's funny because with the no-spoiler request I've gotten more emails about it then posts and the feedback has been great.

Thanks again, grateful you gave it a chance.

I bought this when it was originally released on DVD, just because.
But when I finally got around to watching it, I became a fan as I mentioned in a thread posted from last year or so.
FWIW I think you're on the right track to release it into the virtual communities and I hope you continue to get some good buzz and a little coin from it.
Just in case anyone here hasn't seen it or recommended it to their friends please do. It really is one of those movies that stays with you long after the credits roll.

"strangely compelling" is a great way to describe it!

Thanks again David, for getting the DVD back in the day and for taking the time to post. And I love the term "strangely compelling", if I wasn't using that to describe it already I need to start. =)

Amazing job! I was trying to get work done today and watched it on my other monitor so I could do so. However, I kept finding my self sitting back and watching the video. Then near the end that's all I did was watch.
Great job I hope your future is bright and full of many great adventures.

Ray, I can't get pass 79mins, AND I want those remaining 16mins! ;-)
apit34356 wrote on 9/2/2009, 12:09 PM
"strangely compelling", Ray, that would made a great poster header! a little art work, you, and in the background, the ex-girlfriend..........
MUTTLEY wrote on 9/2/2009, 12:12 PM

Thanks for the kind words vidhed and L8R, I sound so friggin redundant but it really does mean that much to me anytime anyone says they watched it let alone liked it.

apit, did it just start going again? I sent you an email also just in case you were still having issues. For the most part though it seems most are getting it without to much issue, a few have had a few pauses/lag but for the most part seems to be playing well.

Thanks Ray for the email, but I had already tried your suggestion. Its probably the wireless network+comcast fault. I definitely want to watch those last scenes..... great build up......... definitely worth donating to if anyone wondering.

edit: finally I was able to watch the last 16 minutes! Nice work and spin!

I still curious as to what Stacie's reaction to this film was. Does she like it or does she look at you like some weird stalker type? I think it's great, we all do, but what does Stacie think?
