FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HELP!!!!

Hi!

Working on new project, going hot until disaster stuck!

Added brightness and contrast as well as color correction fx, but decided it was too much for certain parts of the video. Tried to remove, but now it shows the video as not having any B&C or CC fx on it (Plugins are not checked/are removed from FX window with no result). Attempts to reverse what we did earlier failed (made the video look terrible).

Only shred of hope is that when using "Bypass FX" button on preview pane, video goes back to normal. This suggests that, somewheres, Vegas knows that these are FX, and as such, they can be removed.

How can this be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You must look for a green fx button. This can be EventFX, TrackFX, MediaFX or OutputFX. Especially MediaFX is hard to find, it only shows when the clip is selected an has the focus. If you are working with VV3, bypass fx button affects MediaFX too. If you want to use this FX but start from scratch, the "reset to none"/"Default" preset is a good choice.

Did you apply the FX to a single event or to the entire project? Maybe you got confused as to which you were applying it to. If it isn't lit in green, it isn't applied.

Welcome to the forum. As you may have noticed, there are no special rules of conduct here other than the ones that are generally accepted for most such forums. If you spend some time reading the posts here, however, you may find that capital letters are seldom used. Most people save them for when they really see a wolf.
It is possible that some people on this forum also present their NLE problems to God, in addition to presenting them here. They never do so at the same time, though. And obviously they have the courtesy not to tell us where they went first.
I do hope you got the help you came for. I have nothing to add to the replies you've got already.

Couple quick things. It is rather easy to drag some FX to the timeline with your intention to drop it on an event and instead it ends up on the track header because yo let go to soon or it just don't drop where you want it. Be sure there are no green icons at the extreme left in the track header area. The other thing that's pretty easy to do if you zoom out and have one or more small events with some FX on it, it can be hiding its FX control on the timeline and you won't see the green indicator. To make sure that isn't the case zoom way in and slowly work your way through the entire timeline and see if that's it. The other thing I do sometimes is if you are add a value by typing its easy to forgot the decimal place, so instead of a 1.250 filter you end up with a 1250 filters which would account for the result you described.
