For you guys with a Revolution 7.1 & LX4 5.1

Actually, this would also apply if I buy the Delta 410 audio card.

How do you properly monitor in STEREO only?
Great set-up for surround monitoring, but if I'm mixing a 2 channel stereo project, how can I monitor using the right/left satellite speakers and still have a proportionate amount of bass?
Do I monitor in 2.1and render as a .wav so that it becomes a stereo project?

Thanks

Mario

There is no 2.1 monitoring. It's either a stereo monitor or a 5.1 monitoring situation. Your system may port audio to the sub even when it's stereo-only, but that still is a stereo mix, so far as Vegas is concerned.
What is your surround speaker setup?
BTW, while the Revolution does somewhat work for surround authoring, it was designed for surround listening, not authoring.

Thanks Spot.

So the Delta 410 with the LX4 5.1 would be better?
I'm new at this, and I don't want to buy something that isn't going to do what I'd like it to do.
Upon closer inspection of the LX4s rear panel (M-Audio manual in pdf) the outputs from the Sub are RF,LF,SR,SL,C.
I guess that means the LX4s automatically give a bass output even if I selected R/L stereo to monitor??

The LX4 system will provide a sub output even if you are set to a 2 channel monitor, yes. That's normal with these sorts of Xovers in single point powered systems. The 410 is great, and works wonderfully with the LX4 and expander system.

Thank you, sir! As always, you've been a great help.
Now where did I put that credit card??

Mario, did you find the speakers and card for any less than $588?

The audio card I found for $113US.
By the time I get it here (Canada) and pay import duties, taxes, etc, it ll be close to $200Can. Still a great deal considering the Revo 7.1 is +/-$140Can, and that's a consumer grade card.

The LX4 2.1 + 5.1 Expander kit I'm getting for $605Can from Kelly's Music and Computers via a pricematch.
AudioMIDI.com has the LX4 5.1 for $440US.
They also have the Echo GINA audio card with breakout box for $230 on sale. That is a better card than the 410.(But I have to draw the line somewhere).
If money was (relatively) no object, I'd get the Firewire410.

What I can tell you is to look at reputable computer parts webstores for these.
Sometimes they don't know what they've got and will sell it cheap.

Mario, did the card for $113 include the multiple plug-in cable? The one for $113 at Newegg doesn't!

I'll have to call, because the picture clearly shows the CDs and the cables.
Also, it states RETAIL version. I don't think M-Audio would sell a card that NEEDS cables purchased separately. That's not any ordinary cable bundle that you can pick up at Radio Scrap.

If you're in the USA, go to AudioMIDI.com and they'll pricematch Newegg's $113 price. Then ask them if they offer a better deal if you take the LX4 5.1 system at the same time.
They do it, I know, they did it for me. However, like I said, I'm getting my LX4s in Canada.
If I remember, they were offering the 410 for $113 and the LX4s at $415.
$528 instead of $588...not bad!
I have no idea however, how good AudioMIDI's reputation is.

So, any new purchases? ;-)

I'm narrowing down my upgrade items myself.

Delta 410
LX4 5.1 surround kit
2x Western Digital 120Gig SATA drives
>first partitioned -- 30Gig System, 90Gig Media
>second--Projects
Sony TRV460 Digital8 Camcorder
Behringer UB802 mixer (for mic pre-amp and headphone volume control)

Let me know how your 410/LX4 hunt is going.

BTW: Newegg states that what is shown on the pictures is what's included in the price. Also, the cable bundle is mentioned in the product description.

Mario, I just wanted to let you know that you were right and I was mistaken. The breakout cable does come with the Delta 410 from Newegg. It's clear after looking at the pictures of included materials. All the other pictures of the card I had seen on other sites had the cable already attached. My bad!

Since that card has been discontinued, I thought I'd better go ahead and order one while I could.

Thanks for pointing out such a good deal!
