You may extend it to 4x.

If it's video only, you can also add a velocity envelope and slow it down near infinitely, but this won't affect the audio at all.

If you need to slow both down past 4x, you can go to 4x, then render that result to a new intermediate file, then bring that 4x file back into your project and slow that down up to another 4x.

Better than an intermediate is to save it as a veg file, import it and then modify it again as desired. This way there is no quality loss whatsoever.

great tips , thank you

Pardon my ignorance, but how does one save "it" as a veg file?

Thanks!
JHendrix2 wrote on 5/31/2013, 9:51 PM
he means save the file as a .veg file (project file) > then import the .veg to a new session

File / Save As / type: .veg

Yep, that simple. In fact, just a plain File / Save will probably do it too.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle...

Learned something....I'm out...

(thanks, gang!)

...oops. spoke too soon... It (the media file) imports as the same length....what am I missing here?

Edit deux: By "file" do you mean the media clip or the project?

Try CTL drag making it longer. If you insert event velocity you can slow it down to 0% which will freeze the frame. OR you can speed it up to 300%.

Nesting veg's is a lot slower then using a media file. If you have the space, render to a lossless format (I like quicktime png or a png sequence). It will take up a lot more space but work a lot faster when editing and rendering.

Checkout Vegasaur's 'rocket speed' effect. (despite the name it slows down too :-) ) Paid for, but well worth it.

I agree, Arthur...I do use "Rocket Speed". Works pretty good for what I need.

I was just wondering if the "export/import veg" method produced any noticeably better results...
