Is there any way to force a track to RAM like there is in
acid. The idea would be to reduce HD load so that if I'm
pumping 16+ solid tracks and would like to lay more, the HD
can just be laying tracks and not playing back (yes, I have
boatloads of RAM).

Too bad. That was a feature which really helped me overcome my
5400rpm HD limitaions with acid. Once I started bumping tracks to RAM
by turning them into one shots I found that Acid could function like a
disk based multitrack. If I needed a new track I could quickly make a
comp track bump it to RAM and leave the HD free to do nothing but lay
the new track. It would be something I would love to see in Vegas.
It's not really an issue so far in Vegas but I like to be able to
manually manipulate my resources for best performance. Love Vegas and
everything else you guys are doing keep it up.

It should never be an issue with Vegas. ACID has a terrible
multitrack streaming engine - just not designed for this. Vegas is a
ground up multitrack audio engine.
Vegas could possibly benifit from increased buffering of track data,
but the non linear nature of the way tracks are used in Vegas, the
benfit would be very small and only useful for small projects, which
should not be a problem anyway, given the right hardware to run Vegas
on.
