Format for combining clips

I'm making a 30 minute film by combining clips, which range from 1' to 3' or so. The ultimate product will be VCD and VHS. I'm storing the clips in AVI format (options>view in external viewer, using "best" encoding) and intend to combine all of them in one final VF file which will then be rendered. Input media are DV. BMP stills, VHS and Super 8 converted through my DV camera, and some MP3 and WAV audio.

It would seem to be preferable, though, to string the original VF files themselves as separate events along the timeline, and render directly from that. Is there a way to do that?

Sorry, there's no good way to string .vf files together. However, if you render each individual file to a DV .avi file, then load all these files together into a fresh project, VideoFactory won't do any additional rendering (unless you make additional editing besides trimming). When creating the final output file VideoFactory will just copy the DV .avi files bit-for-bit so there won't be any quality loss.
