forum bug?

i'm getting an 'authentication required' pop-up on everything i do on the board.

pressing close sends it away quite happily and life continues uninterrupted (till the next pop-up).

is it me or a glitch in the board (cyberspace, the universe, etc?)

Hi Leslie,

Touch wood, I seem to be O.K. Not sure what I can suggest other than a note to Support (unless you've accidentally pushed a button of some sort on your anti-virus or anti-phishing programmes).

Regards,

Richard

I thought it might be Firefox 3.5.3 update which occurred yesterday, but even IE8 is asking me for the password.

What's really odd is even Apple's site is doing something weird - keeps asking me for cookie confirmation (from the same site) even though I've already replied that cookies are acceptable for the session. I wonder if these two are related in any way.

I'm getting the same thing this morning. It was fine last nite. I doesn't even like my password.
I'm also using Firefox.

I was getting the same password prompt with Firefox 3.5.3. But now it is gone.

I'm getting it also, with IE8, only with this forum. I don't get it clicking around other parts of the Sony Creative site, and I don't get it on any other sites I visit.

Just signed on with Firefox 3.5.3. No problem here.

Things are OK again i.e. no prompt for password. I haven't rebooted, and I haven't even restarted Firefox. Mysterious.

Windoze XP - sp3, Firefox 3.5.3 (latest update) no problem here although I do sometimes see an issue with Firefox that may or may not be related. Periodically, if I go to check my Boeing retirement stuff, I get an "invalid redirection" in Firefox, but IE6 will do it just fine on the same machine. Other times, Firefox works fine. It almost sounds like a cookie issue of some sort (must be those diet cookies ??)

Just started getting it on every screen -- annoying!

Appears to be OK now -- I know that Madison likes to do their web maintenance on Sunday mornings, when all but us hardcore asocial types are doing something else.

I got it on my iPhone an hour ago, no problem on my desktop currently at least.

Gone again..it was very annoying.

Still have it here. 1:46 Pacific.

IE 7.0 and Firefox 3.5.3

For IE it asks 3 times per page. I think it's probably something with the SCS forum server using assets that require another password. Possibly an element at another domain or something.
rmack350 wrote on 9/13/2009, 1:52 PM
Firefox seems to ask for the password an unlimited number of times. IE asks 3 times.

firefox 3.5.3...everytime i try to open a post. this started right after Firefox and Microsoft updates...both had security fixes, which i suspect is the cause of this.

I've been getting the login pop-ups on and off. No need to respond, just hit ESC.
Yoyodyne wrote on 9/13/2009, 3:10 PM
I'm getting this too, driving me nuts - just started happening.

This is with google chrome.
John_Cline wrote on 9/13/2009, 3:13 PM
I'm getting this in Opera v10, Chrome and IE8. I have not upgraded anything in the last several days. Just clicking on cancel makes it go away, but it pops up again the next time I do anything on the forum. As was mentioned earlier, hitting ESC works, too.
