about this forum format. sofo should offer emails when there is a reply to your post. also, the branching of the threads is awkward. when reading while logged out, the threads read in a logical branch pattern (comment and reply below). when logged in, the threads read straight down, which is convenient, but any reply at the bottom of the list will show as a reply to that specific comment to readers who are logged out (or not registered), so it can be confusing which post is being replied to. might not be a big issue, but i thought i'd point it out for whatever its worth. there are more intuitive forum formats than this one. however, this is a great board, very active and friendly.

Statas: when i'm replying to any post but the last one (and sometimes even then), i always try to start my reply with the name of the person i'm replying to. That helps you line the reply up with the post it's replying to. Maybe we need to encourage more people to do that.

Sonicboom, where's your trademark sbsbsbsbsbsbsbsbsbsb? I didn't have to get out my umbrella and rain coat to read your reply this time ;)

Is this the whining zone? OK.
<whine> I used to be unhappy about the default display of showing one post at the time. I could see the links to each of the posts but could not tell if it was a vital contribution or just a me too message.
Then I found out that I could choose to have all posts in a thread displayed at one page - great improvement.
BUT, now, when I want to reply to something, I cant see the something I'm replying to while the reply window is open. If I want to quote something or spell a name right I must do the reply in a separate window - which of course is an easy thing to do. </whine>

All yours, Tor

I agree with what you're saying...just wanted to share how I do it when I need to check for proper spelling and quotes.
I use the previous page arrow in my browser to go back and check, then use the next page arrow to come back and continue writing.
