Found the first bug

Ok, I found a bug in the first 5 minutes of using it, just
testing out the recording. I initially thought this would happen only
using "Cntrl R" for recording. I hit "Cntrl R" to start recording,
everything is fine, I then hit "Return" to pause. I then hit "Cntrl R"
to start recording my next take, Vegas plays, but doesn't Record. I
hit "Return" again and then "Cntrl R" again and then it starts to
record again. Then I try another take and again it doesn't record. I
first thought this would happen consistently for every other take, but
then I got 5 takes in a row without a hicup and then it missed the
next take, so it seems to happen randomly, which is even worse. I
also got it to repeat these missed takes using the Transport record
button. Maybe it's my system, I am still using Windows 98 first
edition, so maybe someone else can test this out and see if they get
the same problem. I was recording a stereo Track, all takes done on
the same track, and I never disarmed the Record enable on that track.

Thanks, do I get a cookie now? :-)

Hi -
I can't repro this. I really think you can't expect consistent
behavior if you're not using win98SE...

Ok, I'm installing windows 98SE tonight, I really wanted to install
Win2k, but MOTU told me today that they don't plan on even making any
plans of updated drivers until next year for Win2k for any of their
Midi interfaces. They're currently working on their Win2K audio
interfaces and won't have the time until next year if they even decide
to make win2k midi drivers.

Yeah, I'd do the same if Delta had stable drivers. Frustrating. I've
been recording all night and so far none of the behavior you were
exibiting. Good luck with the "upgrade".

Charles.

Damn MOTU....

Echo is REALLY LAME about their drivers too...they are happy to post
press reviews every 5 seconds but still no win2k driver that actually
works

The beta drivers at Echo don't actually work, they've been a beta for
about 2 months now haven't they? Damn, and I have 2 Gina cards, but
I'm sure those drivers will be done way before MOTU though. I guess
we're all stuck with running Vegas on a shakey Windows 98 system.

Hi Brian,

I used to get that behavior with VP1.0b, also with VA2.0a, usually if
I hit Ret, then Ctrl+R in quick succession. I have set the option to
NOT ask if I want to save, so VA is closing out the just-recorded
file, and opening the next upon hitting Ret. Maybe while it is busy
doing that, it doesn't respond properly to the Ctrl+R ?

I don't think SF asked for any new feature requests, ha ha, but if we
could hit one key to do 'Pause-Rec' that would be grraaate ! I
record live choral concerts, and to be able to get a reliable Pause-
Rec between movements would be a God-send. Actually, that's called a
macro, eh ? Better to have logic in the prog that handles the saving
of one file and opening of another, imho.

Regards,
Rick Z
