That was pretty sweet.

Very nicely done!

My only question is why do the make the image so large only to degrade it with such poor compression???

[edit]

On a second viewing, I noticed that the drop shadows do not overlap the photos behind them. Why is that? What would it take to solve that problem?

Following that link I found this:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1885073326299806884&hl=en

Obviously NOT done in Vegas and I bet that tooks some rendering.

Check out Animusic's site for more demos.
From their site:
Animusic is a content creation company. Our principal focus is the production of 3D computer graphics music animation. We primarily create original content, such as our "video album", but have also produced animation for clients.

Both the graphics and the music are entirely digitally synthesized. Virtual instruments are invented by building computer graphics models of objects that would appear to create the sound of the corresponding music synthesizer track. Graphical instruments range from being reminiscent of existing instruments to arbitrarily abstract.

The animation of graphical instrument elements is generated using proprietary software called MIDImotionTM. The technique is analytical, note-based, and involves a pre-process (as opposed to being reactive, sound-based, and real-time).
Very talented bunch of people.

Whoa... that's pretty cool.

Is there a .VEG posted anywhere?

Sorry no. This wasn't (and, IMO could never be) done in Vegas.
Read the details on the MIDImotion page of their site and you'll see why.

edit: Ignore my comment. I just realized that sync was responding to zcheema's post and not farss's follow-up comment.

sync - I posted a veg sometime ago with something very similar (I didn't use the drop shadows) but it was a large 3D composite of images laid out almost exactly like that one :) - I am wondering if someone altered my posted veg (which is fine) and used that. If you search my past posts you'll find it easily enough.

I remember Frigid's original posts and I think jrazz worked on something similar for a project of his.

Yeah, I think I still have a veg posted A link to the containing folder. I did use the drop shadow and I have made several variations since then of Dave's veg. He saved me a ton of time in hanging pictures. I think I still have the some of the examples posted on my site. I did a baseball highlight clip that incorporated this type of effect and morphed into a baseball in the end with video strung throughout. I also have some other more simple, less complex projects up on my site as well that started with Dave's veg. He saved me a ton of time and I learned a lot from tearing the veg apart. If I never said it- thanks Dave.

They didn't. By default, Google Video stetches the video to fit the window. Click the arrow on the bottom right of the player window and choose Original Size.
