I was thinking alt-left arrow or alt-right arrow for single frame cursor movement, but I'm not at a computer where I can verify that...

I think if you want to go only by a single frame it is 'alt' and if you want to move several frames it's 'shift'. Cin

That is correct! Also, just tapping the right and left arrow keys moves the cursor 3 frames at a time as well.

Using the arrows by themselves moves the cursor left & right one pixel on the timeline. If you're zoomed in far enough this could be individual frames. If you zoom out farther it could be several seconds.

Alt+arrows always moves one frame regardless of zoom level.
