Frame Order Question

This may sound like a really dumb question and I kind of think I know the answer, but thought I would post it to those who are more knowledgable.

WIth analog video, the frame order is upper or top field first.
With digital video, the frame order is lower or bottom field first.

Now comes the question. With still pictures and slides, we really don't have multiple frames in a picture. (Well, technically, since it is now video, there would be 30 frames per second.) So do I just leave the frame order to the default of "None (progressive)" since it started as a single frame?

I am kind of thinking that is what I would do, but I seem to be experiencing a wee bit of flicker in some of the pictures (mostly along straight lines and edges). Could this be due to my home DVD player (Sony DVP-NS325)? I do not experience the flicker when played on my computer.

Thanks in advance...
Al
