My computer a P4 3.4Mhz is tuned for performance (unnecessary graphics and processes stopped) and when my Vegas HD project starts it previews well at about 27 fpm. However after playing for a few minuets the system cache fills up to about 60% of total RAM. I have I MB RAM in two 512 modules. Also at this time the system starts using the page file with an average size of about 600KB, and my frame rate just drops off to 1 to 1/2 fps and stays that way until I reboot. I have my system on one HD and my project files on another and I have set up a 4MB page file on BOTH disks.

My question is recommended memory settings to try or do I just buy more RAM?
