Yes, but you need to use a codec that supports this frame dimension. I think DV only supports 720x480 so you would have to use another codec like the Microsoft Video 1 codec or purchase an MJPEG codec.

I thought that DV did 720x480 or by 486, am I wrong? - is it just D1 that does 720x486?

AHHH!!, I don't know anymore, I'm just lost in a sea of numbers and I am paddling for my life :)

Actually, PAL DV is 720x576 so the answer I gave was for NTSC. The point is, if you select a frame size that is not NTSC or PAL DV, the DV codec will give an error and not work. In Vegas the frame size options are actually fixed to these dimensions when you select the DV codec and you cannot change them. But in other applications you get an error when you try to render.

OK from what I gather on the microsoft site, the Microsoft Video 1 codec is included in the Media Player 10 package which I've installed.

How do you get different codecs to show up in the Vegas render options list?

Do I need to find this individual codec and install it into the correct Vegas folder?

Thanks for the responses,

G.

When you go to the Render As... dialog, click the Custom button and on the Video tab change the Video format:. That drop down will list all of the codecs on your PC. You will see Microsoft Video 1 in the list. Just select it and change the frame size.

Thanks for getting back again.

I went to the list you suggested but I don't see Microsoft Video 1.

I have Video for Windows (which is at 740x480 and doesn't seem to give me an option to change that size) as well as Windows Media Video V9 (which does the same). Is there anywhere else to find this codec besides microsoft?

I just ran a program called Sherlock http://www.updatexp.com/sherlock-codec-detective.html which tells you all of the codecs installed on your computer and low and behold Microsoft Video 1 is listed on mine.

So that leaves the question, why isnt' Vegas listing that in the 'Save as Type" pulldown?

Think I'll try re-installing the program.

Solved it. The codec is actually listed in the video tab, under a video pulldown. Then you can adjust the frame size if you select 'custom size'.

IT WORKS!!!

Thanks for your help, ya'll.
