This could be any number of issues. That start would be the computer specs. Do you have enough horsepower? How many unnecessary processes do you have running in background? What kind of video card do you have? Is your project and the video it is using on your system drive? Any one of these items could be your culprit. You'll have to provide a bit more information and then someone can probably come up with reasonable guess.
