Stereoscopic 3D software tools for high definition 3D video
viewing and production are available from Medtron.org
http://medtron.org/products.aspx
Play3D is an advanced multi-format hi-def 3D video player.
Make3D is a plug-in script for Sony Vegas that helps
create professional high definition 3D video.
Download hi-definition 3D video samples for evaluation.
The new 3D DLP TVs from Samsung and Mitsubishi are supported.
I have evaluated Play3D running on a dual core intel processor
with a Samsung 3D DLP TV and the 3d video quality was amazing.

Microsoft strikes again!

I don't like it when a host tells you that you can't make zip files or exe files available for download. It also makes the company look cheap if they cannot afford to host a user friendly website. This may not be the case (understood it is free) but it sure does make it frustrating trying to check it out.

Dear J Razz,

Yes, in retrospect Microsoft Office Live was a poor choice for a host.
But for now, we must deal with the limitations and hope Microsoft will improve their hosting.

1) Are you able to download the .ziq file and rename it?
2) Did setup.exe properly install the software?

If you were not able to install the software, please contact:
http://medtron.org/support.aspx
and describe what went wrong, so we can address the issues.

Dear J Razz,

Did you see:
"Medtron is not a profit driven organization, and will provide
free software license keys to individuals who want to use
the stereoscopic 3D software tools."

"Cool "/" Cool"

My father has much experience (since 1970's) in making stereoscopic 3D and has made his own equipment to shoot it using standard digital camcorders. Great coincidence therefore that you made your software available for Vegas, the only NLE I use at present. Can't promise immediate use (as I lack 3D displays and am currently fully loaded with standard 2D work) but I am inspired, so hopefully later in the year. Well done for encouraging the 3D video world!

I cut some 3D back in the V4 days with Vegas. Shot with 2 PD150s without the shutters synced. Seemed like it wasn't going to work to me but looked OK in the 3D cinema, still running I think. Probably what saved the day was the lack of any fast motion.

Dennis,

I hope you didn't take my comment at crass. It was not meant that way. I appreciate people who do hard work to develop software that others can benefit from, free or for profit.

With that being said, I did not download it as currently I would not be able to use it and I am in the middle of projects (not good to install anything when in the middle of something).

I did view some of the sample videos but I assume I need the software to see it properly as well as some glasses? All I saw was a split screen with double images.

J Razz,

Unless you have a special 3D monitor, LCD glasses are required and including the wireless IR transmitter they cost aproximately $100.
The high definition 3D video viewer is free from Medtron.
