@set, I included the video to explain how it all works plus the (older) documentation on the About tab:
Use the mouse wheel to resize the square (no ALT needed)
CTRL-Click to pick the square "behind" the current square. If you can actually click on either square, that one will selected. The CTRL-Click is in case one is totally behind the other.
Then just click and drag to move the square.
And there's the "rotation" option. Remember that the rotation may seem "backwards" but is really correct.
@Reyfox This is strictly for images. It was designed to simplify the Ken Burns style of panning images when creating slide shows/Montages - with an attempt to be "smart" by scanning for faces before deciding where the beginning and ending locations would be. This one actually originated from a company that produces memorial videos for funeral homes. Their version was specialized for their needs but it sped up their production process significantly.
I suppose something could be done for video but it would need to capture a video frame as an image and, then, would you want two frames captured - one for the first keyframe and one for the last one and switch images depending on which keyframe was chosen? And then do you want the possibility of multiple keyframes since video is always moving? I can see it getting really complicated really fast - so fast that it's probably easier to just use the Pan/Crop window on video.
@jetdv one quick question. anyway to alter the ramp? It looks like it is a linear move, wonder if it could ease in or out. Not a big deal. Nice plugin.
@DMT3 It just uses the default ramp with no option to change that. Typically, I crossfade the image so the "ramping" part would be under the crossfade and not noticeable of any differences. Naturally, it is possible for that to be added. In all the years this plugin was for sale, noone ever asked for that option. This program was first released December 7, 2009 and has needed very few revisions over the years. The main change in this version is allowing the Pan/Crop tab to remain active after 14 days without a serial number. Here's the list of changes over the past 13 years:
Version 2.1.0.0324237 - 11-30-2022 1. Merry Christmas, Montage Magic is now free to use. Donations are accepted and, if you give a donation, you can request a serial number that will prevent it from opening to the About tab after the normal 2 week trial period.
Version 2.0.0 - 05-29-2019 1. Added Rotation options to the selection areas - can adjust using Shift-Mouse wheel or changing the displayed angle. 2. Resizing is now done using the mouse wheel. 3. If the image is Rotated in Vegas (Properties - Media Tab - Rotation), it will now rotate before scanning for the preview.
Version 1.14.0 - 8/21/2016 1. Updated Montage Magic for Vegas Pro 14.
Version 1.0.2.36818 - 01-08-2010 1. Fixed an issue with languages that do not use "." as the decimal character.
Version 1.0.2 - 12-07-2009 Montage Magic - Initial Release
@jetdv I haven't done this yet, but when you use the script and have the keyframes in Pan/Crop, could they be adjusted using the context menu when you right mouse click on them?
@Reyfox, if you open Pan/Crop after the keyframes are adjusted in the extension, you can make whatever changes you want to the keyframes. It just adjusts the first keyframe and then creates the ending keyframe (unless it already exists). They can certainly be modified in the Pan/Crop screen.
