I am scouring all the posts but if anybody could direct me to any posts regarding free sound effects and/or free stock footage, that would be awesome. I am super broke right now, really need the sound effects!!
The Prelinger Archive has lots of stock footage that's public domain (like old commercials, etc.). Looks like they have quite a bit of audio, too (public speeches, etc.).
Here's a site that lets you search for sounds on the internet. Only used it a couple times, but it generates a "visual" of the sound effect, so you can see the characteristics (i.e. how fast it decays, how many hits, etc.) of the sound before you download & listen to it.
I discovered this recently (was it linked from this board? can't remember but props to whoever tipped me off) and it has some great recordings. I was particularly looking for ambience sounds (cars, street noises, trains etc) and it has some very high quality recordings.
From the site intro
"The Freesound Project aims to create a huge collaborative database of audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, ... released under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus License".
I'm hoping to get actively involved and dig out some old location recordings done on mini-disc to upload.
