Freeze frame issue, now that I have found it

Philip wrote on 3/21/2018, 2:09 PM

I don't understand the behavior. I can add the default freeze frame clip at the cursor, but if I try to separate it (S) or delete it, the entire clip gets deleted. Does this mean that I need to go back to the old method for using the new clip separately, or am I just not finding the right keyboard or other tools to do so? Thanks.

There are multiple methods for making a freeze frame. Which are you using?

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

I am using the new freeze-frame button in the clip header.

So, that button basically runs a script that tells Vegas to insert a velocity envelope, and have it go from 100% at the frame you have selected to 0% at the next frame, freezing the video. It isn't actually capturing a freeze frame and dropping it on the timeline (Magix, please give us a button on each track that captures an image of that track's output with alpha transparency in PNG format). That said, I was still able to split and delete part of the clip without any issues, as you can see below. Is there something I'm not doing here to reproduce your problem?

Thanks, fr0sty. What you say now makes sense. What I was trying to do was split the new frozen section from the part of the event from which it came. Since it's not a separate clip but an envelope, I now understand what's happening. One of the older methods will be necessary to have a separate clip created.
