freezing a frame before a specific point

Hi all,

I'm looking for a simple way to freeze a frame with the velocity enveloppe *before* a specific point without changing following points, or if you prefer, without changing actual frames timming of following video. Is this possible?

I have done this in the past in another soft with a "freeze before frame x" command.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why use the velocity envelope? Simplest way, I should think, would be to split the scene where you want the freeze frame to occur, create a single frame clip using the icon on the Preview Window tool bar, and insert the freeze frame before the point of your choice, making it any length necessary for the effect you're after.

Will this work for your situation?

Jack gives one of several methods.
The thing to understand about slow motion is that it takes more time. So when you fix a point on the timeline and slow down or freeze what's before it, the point can not be where it once was because you have made the preceding video take up more time. You have to make room for that time somehow. Usually by shifting the entire event to the right.

Whenever I have something "perfect" and want to do something before it on the timeline, I always duplicate the track and play with the top one while elaving the bottom alone. That way, you could set up your freeze and then move the already-configured stuff to where you want it further down the timeline.
