Freezing occurs frequently while running Vegas.

I am using Vegas Pro 21. However, during the video editing process, Vegas sometimes (or often) freezes and I cannot move forward.

The machine I use is a Dell laptop XPS 9360.

Windows 11 pro, 64bit, CPU is Intel i7-8550U, RAM is 16GB.

These symptoms have been repeating chronically since Vegas 17, so If this symptom occurs, it is inconvenient to reboot the PC every time. Is there a problem with my Vegas settings? Is there a good way to solve this?

Thank you,

Chan Shin

I usually have problems during editing when I open a project from previous versions of Vegas Pro. Currently I only have version 20 installed. I do the following: I open two instances of Vegas (both in the same version). In one instance I open the project from a previous version. In the other instance I start a new project. Then I gradually copy the project events from the old version to compose a new project. The idea is to create a new project in the native version instead of importing a project from a previous version. This approach worked for me.

If you are experiencing problems with projects created in the version of Vegas in use, then you will need to perform several tests already known in this forum such as disabling GPU acceleration, QSV (Intel related), decoders, VST plugins, one by one, until find the problem.

@Chan-Shin, you have an 8th gen Intel, which is 6 years old. Have you considered having the laptop cleaned and new thermal paste applied? Video editing software puts a lot of stress on computer hardware, which generates heat.
