From V8 to V7 ?

I have purchased V8, and am having my share of problems with it.
I see people going back to V7d so they can run a stable version until the boys at Sony get the bugs out. I would llike to try out V7d as well.
Here is my questions:

I do not own a copy of V7, but do own V8. Can I install V7 and use my V8 serial # information to activate it? In other words, since I paid for V8 do I have rights/ability to use previous versions?

Try it and see. Sensibly, you should be able to, but who knows? (Other than Sony.)

I'd say it's very unlikely. Each license key is unique. I would be very surprised if a version 8 key would work with version 7. Certainly it doesn't work the other way around.

I don't think so. My V7 and V8 have completely different license numbers... and I even have the V8 Upgrade.... not the full version

Good point(s) re: license number...what I meant to say (I think) is that it seems to me Sony would somehow allow backfitting to previous versions.

CorTed, I've left a support ticket asking the same question (although I use VMS rather than Vegas). This is my first purchase of VMS, and I have lockups, but some people (including one who has lockups in 8 but not in any other version) say 7 doesn't have the same problems.

I'll let you know when I hear back from Sony on my ticket.

I just received a confirmation on a ticket from a week ago. They're very backed up.

I'd think that you could arrange to transfer your license from V8 to V7, but you'd be abandoning the V8 license. To get the V7 upgrade you'd have had to pay for it, and then to get the V8 upgrade you;d have had to pay for that too. It makes no sense whatsoever for them to include a V7 license right when you purchase V8.

I guess to get your project from V8 back to V7 you'd need to export AAF files, or EDLs.
