From where can I download music?

I am putting together an animation and I am looking for music to download to add to the project. I've signed up for a couple of trial offers with "Pressplay" and "eMusic" and could not find the tracks I want. I guess I am looking for old stuff. Looking for tracks like Truckin & Sweet Magnolia (The Dead), Through the Years (Kenny Rogers), tracks by Metallica, Tone Loc and more. Any recommendations? Or maybe this is not available for download?

Thanks for your help.

Hi
the best place to get a large variety of music is by using one of the many P2P "peer to peer" file sharing software, like Winmx, Kazza, Bearshare, ect. It is deemed illegal to share your music collection, and there is a lot of contriversey sorounding these file sharing software.

I use them, but I dont make CDs up to sell on the streets like some do. I dont lose any sleep over it, and its normally old songs that I used to have on vynyl that I get. One other issue is that it is against copyright to use songs on your video that you havent got permission to use. But again if I am making a holiday video for the family, and it stays in the house, who's to know.

At the end of the day it's up to the individuall to make his or her's mind up on the legal side of things.

Thank you Andrew. I will consider this. Not practical to get permission for music for family prjects, which is whatr I am doing. Just a slide animation of pictures of my daughter and her fiance from first born to the wedding. A fun project for me but hard to realize the passing of time.

Thanks again.

I'm no expert on the audio end of things, but from the many postings on other forums about downloading from sites like Kazza, folks have experienced virus/worm problems. Just a cautionary tale.

Hi Laz
That is a valid point, but as long as you'r anti virus defenitions are up to date, any file that is downloaded can be quickly checked before you open it. I have around 200 MP3s, and have never found a virus yet. There is undoutedly a few weirdos who send a Trogan/virus disguised as a MP3, but it must be quite rare, if it was not, there wouldn't be 1000s of people using these file sharing programs.

Hi
Try Winmx, I have tried Morpheous, Limewire, Bearshare, Kazza, Napster. Winmx's front end looks like Napsters, and its nearly as good, as Napster was last year. Morpheous was quite good to, but they changed the software, or something. Stay clear of Kazza if you dont want any spyware.
