Future multi-CPU support?

Are there any plans to support multiple processors in VF in the future? I have a dual P3-1Ghz WinXP machine, and it seems like such a waste for half my CPU power to go unused when doing an encoding. I'm currently encoding a 4 minute DV clip to Divx format, and both CPUs are at only 50% capacity.

Also, I've encoded the clip to a WM8 format in VF2, and it took 11 minutes. Encoding to the same settings in Windows Movie Maker, it took less than 3. This is encoding a 720x480 DV clip down to 320x240 size, audio down to 64kbps or so. WMM does appear to use both CPUs, but that's greater than a 2x speed increase. What could be the cause?

Thanks

It is not likely that we will support dual processors in Video Factory, but our Vegas Video program does support dual processors.

Just as a suggestion, you should note that the free version of Windows Movie Maker does support SMP, and maybe it should be considered for VideoFactory as well since they will probably be competing products.

I didn't much like the UI of the current Vegas, and assume the upcoming version will be more like VideoFactory. Will there be an affordable upgrade path from VF2 to Vegas 3?

Thanks,
Dan

We do not currently offer upgrades from Video Factory to Vegas Video. Although the programs are similar, they are considered to be completely different products.
