FX editing pop up menu

Renald wrote on 10/19/2005, 10:08 AM
Am having trouble with FX editing. I can drag a particular feature (e.g. brightness/contrast) into the icon on an event-which causes it to turn green-- but I am unable (by right or left clicking on the icon or anything else) to get the pop-up menu that would allow me to change the individual settings (e.g. contrast, brightness, center). Can anyone tell me how I can get that dioalog box to pop up? Many thanks!

Do you get anything at all when you left click on the green fx icon? You should see 3 tabs - VideoFX is the center one.

Negative, Ian. Nada, zip, nothing!

Does that tell you anything? Are there any settings that might disable this feature?

It sounds as if your fx window is out of the viewable area.
Try starting vegas with the shift button and that will restore the default settings. Hope this helps

Tried this (twice) and it does restore my settings but still no luck. I get as far as dragging the special effect into the event, which turns the FX icon into green, but no matter what I do thereafter (right or left clicking on the icon), I can't get the adjustments menu to pop up. I'm familiar with moving the borders of the various screens to enlarge the viewing area, and quite sure the window is not hidden behind the various screens. The exasperating thing is that I used the feature successfully in the past, so I know what I'm looking for, but it just disappeared.

Have other forum members reported this problem?

Thanks!

am replying to my own message, just for the record and for the benefit of other members who may be facing the same problem: when I wasn't getting anywhere, I reinstalled the software from the original disc. That solved the problem. I therefore suspect a corrupt file, somewhere in the original installation.

Thanks for the follow-up. A lot of times, people finally get something to work but never update the thread to share what the solution was. Closure is a good thing.
