FX Plugins Folder Problem

i am erikd wrote on 11/22/2019, 7:07 AM

C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX

This is where Vegas looks to find my OFX plugins. I would like for Vegas to not look here for plugins. Either a different folder or not to look at all is fine with me. My current plugins work fine in other apps I'm using but when I open Vegas, the plugins folder causes the software to crash and not open. If I rename the OFX folder to OFX.old then Vegas opens normally as expected.

Thanks,

Erik

Having sort of similar problem. My VEGAS Pro works perfectly fine with the OFX folder but my VEGAS Effects wont load up till I disable that OFX folder by renaming it to OFX Off. This is a big nuisance for me to work with both VEGAS Pro & VEGAS Effects with some plugins I used inside VP.

Vegas Pro has already been updated to fix this bug. Update Vegas Pro. Vegas Effects should get an update very soon that should address those issues.

Vegas looks here for your OFX filters also:

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\Vegas Pro 17\OFX Video Plug-Ins

But as fr0sty also pointed, this is fixed in the recent update!

I'd like to offer my experience to this discussion:

I like use BMD Fusion for compositing work but it crashes when it sees certain OFX plugins used by Vegas in the OFX folder. Personally, I think this is a fault with Fusion; there should be a option in the program to filter out incompatible OFX plugins. But since that option doesn't exist, my workaround has been to simply move these 'problem' plugins to Vegas' Video Plug-ins folder as described above. Now both programs are happy on my computer.

The issue now is that whenever I add new OFX plugins for Vegas or when I upgrade Vegas to a new version, I need to remember to manually move the plugins to the program's folder again. Not a huge deal but it's important if I want to keep using these plugins in Vegas and not crash Fusion. Naturally, other programs compatible with these OFX plugins may need these plugins copied to their program's local plug-ins folder too.

I wish Vegas had a place in Preferences where a user can define an alternative OFX folder path, like it currently has for setting multiple VST folder paths. Just a thought.

I do understand your situation. But it's not Vegas OFX plugins fault, but BMD who should fix the problem or have an alternative location for the plugins and better OFX compatibility.
