My FX1 is recognised by windows (in that windows makes a sound when camera is switched on and off) and has no problem with Vegas 6 on my desktop but I can do nothing to get it detected by Vegas7 on my Compaq Presario. Any ideas?
The most common problem is that the camera may be switched to downconvert mode. If this happened (i.e. after you successfully plugged it into Vegas 6), you'd find the Windows sound but no detection in Vegas (any version).
Be sure:
1. The cam is in HDV, not "Auto" VCR mode. Some systems just don't like the Auto mode.
2. Be sure you've selected the HDV/SDI capture tool, not the DV capture tool in Vegas.
3. If both of the above are not the issues, launch Vegas, launch capture, cycle the cam on/off.
I think it must be the OHCI card in this laptop or the cable which uses a 6>4 adapter to enter the computer. The camera is set up right and works with Vegas on other machines. Vegas is set up right because it works with my Canon DV camera (incidentally you do not have to disable external capture utility in 7 for HDV as the capture menu does this automatically when you select HDV capture). Also HDlink will not recognize camera also.
Anyone had problems with 6>4 adapters or OHCI cards in Compaq Presarios?
