Since I've been having trouble working with HDV video on my FX1, I've been capturing clips as SD and I was wondering about the aspect ratios.
The SD clips are automatically detected as widescreen, which Vegas uses a 1.2121 pixel ratio for. Which, at the original resolution 720x480, works out to about 873x480 - which is a 1.82:1 ratio. However, the FX1 works with HDTV resolutions and a 1.78:1 ratio...
So, if I set my project to a true 16x9 resolution, I get thin bars at the top and bottom of all video. Now, perhaps widescreen DV cameras really do record with a 1.82:1 ratio, but for the FX1 shouldn't it use a 1.1833 pixel ratio with a resultant 16x9 resolution of 852x480?
Just curious.
