FX1000...24p...Vegas???

I can’t seem to get Vegas to remove the 2:3 pulldown from the footage of the Sony FX1000. I have the box checked in prefs to remove the pulldown, but when I go to the 24p media properties, everthing is 60i. Shouldn’t it show where it removed the 2:3 pulldown? I not sure if I’m doing something wrong, the Camera is not adding the flags or Vegas is not recognizing the 24p footage.

Any thoughts?

This is HDV 24p....tried DV 24p, same results.
Vegas 8.0b on XP2

I think the camera does a its own 60i conversion on output

Thanks, I talked to a Sony rep before I bought the cameras and he informed me that the 1000 did use the flags. He also said I could even use any HDV camera to capture. According to him, the 24p is in fact inside a 60i wrapper.

I think you mean you want Vegas to remove the pulldown.

There's a switch in the prefs somewhere to allow removal of pulldown on capture. As I work in 50Hz land I've never had cause to test if that works with HDV. I believe the Cineform products are capable of removing pulldown even without the flags, don't know if that's a help or not.

Yea, I have the boxed checked for the pulldown removal. It's almost like the camera is not inserting the flags. I hope this in not the case.

It might be the case however I also seem to recall the same issues with other HDV cameras and the problem was with Vegas not reading the flags. You could try a different capture path, maybe HDVSplit.

I'm really out of my depth here, I'd have hoped someone with more experience than I with 24p would have chimed in.

Failing getting any better input I'd suggest a trip over to DVInfo. There you'll find lots of people with the same camera and various NLEs, that'll help remove one variable from the puzzle.

You're opening the footage in a 24p project, yes? You've got 24p pulldown removal ticked off in preferences, yes?

I'm in 8c, not a problem with the Z5 (they share the same encoder)
