FYI - Intel Cascade Lake-X processors (2019 Core i9 X-series refresh)

In case you are thinking about a new Intel build or desktop upgrade for Vegas Pro, you might want to wait until next month (Nov 2019) for the release of the Core i9-109x0X high-end desktop processors (replacing the Core i9-99x0X)

  • Core i9-10900X: 10-cores, 20-threads, clocked at 3.7GHz to 4.7GHz, $590
  • Core i9-10920X: 12-cores, 24-threads, clocked at 3.5GHz to 4.8GHz, $689
  • Core i9-10940X: 14-cores, 28-threads, clocked at 3.3GHz to 4.8GHz, $784
  • Core i9-10980XE Extreme Edition: 18-cores, 36-threads, clocked at 3.0GHz to 4.8GHz, $979

These new processors come equipped with 48 PCI Express lanes on the CPU itself, up from 44 lanes, plus slightly higher clock speeds. The major news, however, is the large price cut (the 18 core CPU now below $1000 USD; the "old" i9-9980XE retails for around $1700)

Overkill to be honest!

I dont think you will get any major performance upgrade to gen 9 intel CPU's.

So you are saying you would not build a video editing rig using Core-i9 X-series processors or Core i9 in general? When you say you will not see any major improvements, you mean improvements relative to what exactly?

Well I have the i9 9900k CPU and have compared it to i7 9th gen intel CPU's and have not noticed much difference.

If you are going to create some Hollywood style GFX on your videos and have spare cash then by all means buy the new Core-i9 X series CPUs. However I think more RAM (eg 32gig 3200MHz) and a good GFX card would be a better investment for rendering videos.

I dont know Vegas Pro but I know Computer components and my views are relative.

If you are going to play CoD MW, have multiple applications running and render a video with the avengers GFX then you might need a Core-i9 😜

The current series have been reduced in price. The price in red showed pricing on 24th in Germany, which is higher then the full discount price.

I would expect US prices to also dropped. I saw the i9-9980XE come down to $1500 USD, but that is still well above Core i9-10980XE MSRP.
