Sorry to be a bit off topic, I've got a pair of these in a 3rd string comp. and was wondering if there was any xp support out there yet? If I have time I will try out this system with vegas 4 over the next day or two. Currently my 3rd comp is running 98se so I will run vegas 4 with that os. They are a fairly bulletproof card so I don't forsee any issues.

I believe there were techs working on one,I just haven't had time to look around on the internet and see if anyone has gotten anywhere. That's pretty low right now on my to do list.

I've looked around and come up empty. This is the main reason I continue to run 98se. I'm chomping at the bit to go to xp but hate trashing such a good card. If you find a driver be sure to post it here. It looks like there's quite a few of us that would like to see it.
here is a link to a guy on a yahoo groups forum who has created a gadget labs beta xp driver http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GadgetLabs/message/17040
I don't know anything more than that and probably won't have time to test for a good while.
Ask the expert who wrote it your questions. I'm just a sound guy.

One of my bands has spent the past 8 months recording preproduction demos on a wave pro with Vegas 4.
We played around with the beta XP driver, it was pretty good (and getting better all the time). But for a variety of reasons we ended up going with ME.
i loved this card! i still have my 824 but i havent used it since i got my motu 2408. i just needed more i/o options. i am debating on selling it, but i think i would be better off keeping it. i am still ironing out my vegas, motu, xp system, but those were excellent times with vegas, GL824, and ME. just curious, i know there were windows 2000 drivers out for it, would those work for xp?
From memory, there weren’t actual 2k drivers; they were (non ASIO) NT4 drivers that with some system tweaking could work in 2k. Unfortunately they definitely don’t work in XP.
Foreverain4, hows the 2408 and xp working out for you? Are you using the original 2408? I'm running an original 2408 with xp and vegas as well and have a few weird issues with the buffer settings for the motu. Oh and by the way, which driver are you using I heard rummors that the pci 424 driver would work with a 324 but couldn't make it happen. Just curious to compare notes.

well, after two weeks of stress, numerous cuss words, and occasionally breaking down in tears, i have got my system to work well. my system is an intel 815 chipset with 1ghz processor. i have 512mb of ram. i have (2) internal IDE harddrives, one system, the other for samples and loops. i have (3) external firewire drives for audio. i originally installed xp fresh in standard pc mode, with acpi off. no matter what buffer settings i used, i would still drop samples. i did all sorts of tweaks and such. i downloaded xp service pak 1, still to no avail. what i did: reinstalled xp, with acpi on. installed the service pak, made sure all my drives were formatted the same (fat32). installed motu drivers. made some tweaks. then installed vegas, sound forge, and acid. everything seems to be working great. i was able to transfer 11 tracks of audio from adat without dropping samples. i have not tried any more yet. before, i could not even record two tracks in sync!
just for the record, i was able to transfer 24 tracks of adat with vegas, motu 2408mkIII, and ME, on the system above. that is what i am hoping to be able to do with xp as well.
right now i have my buffer setting set at 128. that seems to be working really well for me with my system tweaked a bit. if you go to high on your buffer settings you will get some weird clicks and pops. you have to find the lowest possible for you system. are you in acpi or standard pc mode?
acpi, my system is fairly solid at the moment, but I was mainly looking to compare notes with other motu 2408/xp/vegas users just to make sure the quirks I'm seeing are the same across the board. I'm finding vegas 4 to not give me the same type of performance numbers before stutter as vegas 3. Of course raising the buffer settings to try and push more out of it runs me into the motu buffer issue. Any particular reason you went fat 32 over ntfs? all of mine are ntfs at the moment and I wonder if this makes any difference? I'm glad you tried standard as I've been thinking of trying that and now will leave it alone.
At this point I'm not really complaining because most of my major issues seem cleared up with this update, just looking to squeeze every once of power I can get out of my system. Greedy I am, and even though I can run more than 35 waves ren plugs across a 40 ch proj before I see issues....plus of course misc. other plugs, tons of edits and envelopes....By the way, any serious issues with the mk3? I've been looking to upgrade and just wondering how they sound.

i went fat because i wanted all (5) drives to be the same. i still had some projects on my audio drives, so i didnt want to reformat those. :) also, in the tweaking guide i used, it was recomended to use fat32 for audio. i am not really sure why. i dont really think it matters which system you use. i wanted all my drives to be the same. i had 2 of them ntfs, and the other 3 fat32. i too, am using waves. i have been using the audio track pluggin on every track. no problems there. however, i have not been able to run more than one reverb from waves yet. if i use the sonic foundry reverb, i can put a different one on every track if i want. as far as i know, there are no "serious" issues. so far, under xp, it seems to be rock solid. the A/D converters were definately a step up from the gadget labs. i would not say they are appogee or anything, but they are really good for an out of the box sound card. i have not tried anything above 48k at this point. i have not seen the need to.
