Gaming sytems for editing?

I'm about to replace my ooooooold machine for something newer. I didn't want to spend lots of money as editing is not my thing and as long as i can play teh clips for so easy edits and do some simple CC i'm fine. Still the old machine was choking on HD content so it would be fine if the new one could at least play it. I was thinking of buying a gaming system as my machine. somethings along lines of this cheapo:

but since it's been so long since my last computer purchase i don't know if it will be any good.

You thoughts???

I think it is an OK deal. This one might be better...

both don't have that great of a GPU. I'd get the machine in the 2nd link + a newer GPU.

But the ONLY difference between a great editing machine & gaming machine is the GPU. Pretty much everything else is identical with those.

how about this for (my bro told me he can build it for $600):

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
4GIG RAM DDR2-800
Barracuda SATA 3.0Gb/s 500-GB Hard Drive
Case, power supply keyboard and mouse
Gigabite motherboard
and XP or vista or whatever you might want

Yeah, but not totally. I'll be probably recycling one of my newish graphic cards:

that's a pretty good one. :) Not new, but still good. I've heard the nvidia 9xxx series has some issues. Nothing but good things about the ATI 38x0 & 4xxx series cards. I normally get a good one ~6months-1 year after they come out. ~1/3rd the price then. :D
