Gapping in audio (print to tape mode)

I'm experiencing gapping in my audio when i'm in (print to tape mode)
I've adj. the buffer speed, also i've adg. dynamic ram, i,ve shut down background
programs. Am I missing something?
I'm runnig windows me, athlon 1.1 ghz, 512 megs of ram, two 40 gig 7200 HDs,
The footage in question, hangs at the same two, or three spots every time.
The video does not gap, or stutter. Only the audio. is there someone out there
that has had this problem. By the way i'm a newbie, Thanks

I have had gapping problems and a raid card with a level of "0" seemed to help alot!! I also would suggest hard drives that are faster than 7200 but these are expensive!!

Ensure that DMA is enabled for the hard drive/controller via Device Manager.
