Gear 360 -> ActionDirector -> Vegas = no sound

If I use the CyberLink ActionDirector (that's bundled with the Samsung Gear 360 camera) to convert the videos to equirectangular, then import these to Vegas Pro, the audio track will not work - no audio track is imported for the video.

If I play back these video files in VLC or such, I can hear the audio, and FFMpeg detects an AAC (LC) (MP4A / 0X6134706D) 48k stereo 128kbps audio track, but Vegas just fails to import them for some reason.

However, if I stitch the videos with my Galaxy S7 phone's Gear 360 app, the audio track works in Vegas too.

What's going on here? Is that audio format not supported by Vegas?

Fortunately I have a workaround. I can just use FFMPeg to re-convert the video to another MP4 (direct video pass through, convert audio to AAC again), and after this Vegas reads the audio too.

This is fast to do and I won't mind the audio getting re-converted - I only need it there for syncing (I've recorded way better audio with a separate recorder)
