GearShift: Can not clean install?

Spot, Johhny et al: After installing and reinstalling various versions of GearShift and installing V6 I now have TWO icons for GearShift (one of which does not function) in the scripting menue in V6 AND an icon for the licx.dll file. I have unistalled GearShift and cleaned out everything I can find relating to it several times and on reinstall I still get the THREE menue items in the Veags6 dropdown?

Unfortunately, Sony changed the way it finds scripts in Vegas 6 and it is not backward compatible. There is no way to get rid of the licX or double GearShift menu items because Sony scans for DLL files even if they don’t have a script entry point. It would be nice if they excluded DLL’s without an entry point but they don’t.

I am working on a new installer for all VASST software products to work around these new limitations. In the mean time:

You should only be using the latest version of GearShift 1.2.1. Uninstall the GearShift you have installed now. Delete the .\VASST GearShift directory under the Vegas 6\Script Menu directory. Install the 1.2.1 version of GearShift and make sure its pointing to your Vegas 6 directory. Use the license installer (Start > All Programs > VASST GearShift > License Installer) and replace the trial key with your permanent key and press Install. Close the License Installer and start Vegas 6.

You should have three items under the VASST GearShift menu. GearShift, GearShift, and licX. You should be able to click on either of the two GearShift icons to start GearShift. The second one will be slightly faster because it loads the DLL directly. Put this on your toolbar. The THREE menu items will be fixed in the next version.

Let me know if this doesn’t work.
