General Codec and DVDA question

Well, I'm on my way to start my first project in Vegas. I just need a few pointers.
The project setting will be:
NTSC DV (720x480, 29.970 fps) and I'll be using Vegas Capture V4.0
1st Question: How do I set which Codec to use when I'm in the Capture screen?

I see that my Mainconcept codec version in the about box (Render As) says Version 1.0 (Build 798) Mainconcept MPEG-2 File Format Plug-In.
2nd question: Is this the latest? If not, how do I update this codec?
3rd Question: How can I render as uncompressed? I don't see an uncompress DV or AVI in my pull-down list in the Save As box.

When I select Mainconcept MPEG-2, I also select the Template DVD A NTSC video stream. What is the difference between this and DVD NTSC?

#5. My goal is to place the final video to DVD using DVDA. To avoid any re-compression, what are some tips I can use? (will the template DVDA NTSC go in nicely into DVDA?)

Thanks for all the help..I'm eager to get started.

RE: Capture - if you capturing analog without hardware compression, best use another capture app & HUFFYUV. If you're capturing DV then usually not an issue.

RE: Mainconcept plugin - update to Vegas 4c to get the latest SOFO version of the codec.

RE: Compression - don't want to do uncompressed, & DV is compressed. Use the DVDA template and you should be cool.

Thanks.

Found how to render as uncompress..pick video for windows AVI, then in the template pick uncompress.

I do have Vegas 4.0c Build 184. What version of the Mainconcept codec Mpeg-2 should be displaying?

Thanks again.

I read the manual and it only states that if it was rendered with the same compression settings you have specified in DVDA , then it will not re-compress. There should be a green bar indicating that all is okay and no re-compress is needed. It seems I always get the red tag.....but then again I haven't tried the template for DVDA.

..still having an issue getting the new version of Mainconcept codec...or to find out if what I have is the new one.
