I inserted a credit rool and when I clicked on the little filmstrip at the end of the clip so I can change the text, it just sends that silver bar from win xp silver theme down to the bottom of the screen & nothing happens. What can I do to change this?

Sounds like you've moved that dialog box off the screen. You could try changing to a higher screen resolution, locating the box, and moving it back to the main screen. Then change the screen resolution back to it's original value.

Worst case scenario, you can hold down CTRL-SHIFT while starting Vegas to reset everything but it will reset EVERYTHING.
