Generated Text suddenly very bad looking

I'm working with V3 build138.
Yesterday -after several months of not using vegas- i suddenly had problems with the generated media, that i never had before.
I created a title. And as soon as i render the title to an avi file, it looks very bad, as if it's rendered in very low resolution. I checked all the settings and they are fine (PAL DV preset).
Looking at the preview it's all working perfect, but as soon as i render to avi it becomes very 'blocky'.
How's that?

Bad/wrong template?

No, the template is PAL DV - like it has always been before.
Is it possible, that the codec became corrupted somehow?

By default Windows Media Player shows DV at half resolution, at least on my XP machine.

Know that and already has applied a fix for that (it's the same with Win 2000 which I'm using).
It has to be some rendering problem, because the Vegas preview showes perfect results. I already tried to print out to tape directly with the same result: looks like the text is made of a low resolution image that has been blown up to DV-size.

Now I'm totally confused. I tried to put out to .mov format and the result is perfect, the same as on the preview window. But as soon as I use .avi no matter if it's PAL or NTSC format, the result is bad.
Then I installed the programm to my Windows 98 partition (I got Windows 2000 and Windows 98 on my computer, both on different partitions and hidden from the other). Now the new installed Vegas provides the same problems. How's that? Something wrong with my PC?
