Generating MPEG output

Hi, I have created a 3 minute slide show with audio. when i select 'make movie' and choose MPEG-2 format wiht the DVD-NTSC template, it generates the .mpg file ok, however neither Quicktime nor Windows media can read it. With Quicktime i get an error "error 2048 file is not a movie file" and Windows Media gives "windows media player encountered an unknown problem". Any ideas where i am goofing up?

You probably don't have an MPEG-2 codec installed and accessible to those players. MPEG-2 is a "paid" codec which you normally don't get for free. Try playing the file in DVD playback software such as PowerDVD, if you have something like that installed.

Failing that, try rendering to MPEG-1 instead. Most any player handles MPEG-1.

I believe it's only MPEG-2 encoding which needs a license - there's a free DVD player here
