Generic Scripting "how to's"

How would you go about scripting the following types of tasks:

1. For the currently selected event:
A: Make a one second (default) dissolve on the front and the back
B: Adjust Pan/Crop settings on a couple of keyframes (i.e. if a .PNG file is added to the timeline, have a keyframe at the 2 second mark in the "default" position but set the first keyframe so that the .PNG file is off the right-hand side of the video)
C: Set a 2 second fade-in of any specific type (such as if you add a fade-in, right-click the fade-in, choose Fade Type, and select, say, the third one down instead of the default)

2. Add a specific file (position and name may be hard or soft coded) on the currently selected track in the current position.

3. Add a text object to the timeline and set its first keyframe to a saved preset.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've started a FAQ that answers some of these questions.

Thanks for the excellent beginning of the FAQ. It's the small pieces like these that people will be able to assemble together to produce more complicated final projects. I truly believe the scripting will be a powerful feature of Vegas 4.
