Hello @Bowie-Poag I have been following up with a few other people like yourself on my own forum. I'm trying to warn as many people as possible, so that don't fall for the same trap.
One of my more elderly forum members who got tricked into buying the upgrade, requested a refund and has been officially denied.
Here is a copy of the letter they received from the Magix sales department. It seems they are hiding behind their pathetic new Terms of Service, which limits refunds only to countries in the European Union. I can only guess that Magix is about to become a company that trades exclusively in the EU only.
That letter from MAGIX Sales gives the company's address as Reno Nevada rather than an address in Germany such as Berlin where MAGIX is based. And the VEGAS team is in Wisconsin - some 3,000 kms from Nevada - as far as I am aware.
Maybe MAGIX Sales has always been based in Nevada but I just hadn't noticed that before.
I do have VEGAS Movie Studio 17 Platinum, when I go to rendering the program stops. Does any body knows some thing about this issue. Thanks
Cesar
Hi Cesar I am having the same issue. I have contacted tech support but they are very tardy in answering. Have lodged the request a week ago and only a reply asking for screen grabs and error notices. I complied but there are no error notices it just flickers and goes to a white screen before shutting down the program. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling etc but to no avail. If you get any success let me know and if I find a solution I will post back to you.
@Greg-Lowry What exactly is your problem? You've posted separately about not being able to load VMS17 after installation. Cesar's problem relates to rendering problems. You say you have the same issue but if you cannot load VMS17 how are you able to encounter a rendering problem? Also this thread is about getting a refund on Magix Movie Studio 18. So please continue your problem in your own thread where it's more likely to get attention.
I am no lawyer, but I thought that if you did business in the States and have a Stateside office, you are bound by State law. But it seems by Magix replying from the US state of Nevada, do not require anything for Return & Refund Policies. Here is an interesting article about refunds in the States as of 2020.
I think with Magix not offering a refund loses a customer for life, and of course, getting the associated and rightly deserved internet comments about not getting a refund. "Word of mouth", especially negative comments travel like wildfire. I would not buy if I knew I could not get a refund. But I also do my "due diligence" in researching as much as possible before pressing the "buy" button.
